Plain-language change summary

The proposed changes to SB 229 introduce a new section called the "School Support and Accountability Act," replacing the previous A-B-C-D-F grading system for schools. This is significant because it shifts the focus from simple letter grades to measurements like adjusted graduation rates and chronic absenteeism, which can provide a more nuanced understanding of school performance. This new approach aims to foster better support for schools and students rather than just labeling them based on their grades.
