The recent amendments to Senate Bill 101 introduce a new framework called the "Uniform Directed Trust Act," which outlines how trusts can be directed and managed. This includes definitions for key terms such as "directed trust" and "directed trustee," clarifying their roles and responsibilities. These changes are important because they modernize and standardize how trusts operate in New Mexico, potentially improving oversight and accountability in trust management. Additionally, the bill repeals an outdated section of existing law, streamlining the legal framework for trusts in the state.
