The updated version of HB 2 has removed the provision that would have diverted funds from the Legislative Retirement Fund to other retirement funds for a specific period. Additionally, it imposes a gross receipts tax on nonprofit and government hospitals, with the revenue generated from this tax going to the general fund. These changes are significant because they adjust how state revenue is allocated, particularly affecting funding for hospitals and retirement programs, thereby influencing state budget priorities and services available to the public.
