The recent changes to HB 1365 include an increase in the minimum base salary for assistant teachers by $3,000. Additionally, school districts will no longer be allowed to use state-funded salary increases as a replacement for their local funding contributions. This means that if a district fails to meet its local funding obligations, it will be held financially responsible for the amount it owes retroactively. These adjustments aim to ensure that assistant teachers receive fair compensation and that local funding remains consistent and adequate.
