Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 2495 includes changes that will ensure faster removal of inmates from county jails by requiring the Department of Corrections to financially compensate these jails for housing state offenders. Additionally, it raises the payment rate for housing these offenders, making it more financially feasible for counties. These changes are significant because they aim to relieve overcrowding in jails and improve the conditions for both inmates and county facilities.
