The recent amendments to Bill HB 968 include changes that clarify definitions and terms related to computer software and its taxation in Mississippi. Specifically, the bill now allows taxpayers who have already paid sales tax on computer software in another state to receive a credit against their Mississippi taxes, making it more equitable for businesses that operate across state lines. This change is important because it helps to prevent double taxation and can potentially lower costs for companies using software services, fostering a more favorable business environment in the state.
