This bill is no longer active — its legislative session has ended, so there is no live prognosis. It would have to be reintroduced in the current session to move again.

The recent amendment to Bill HB 605 makes it clear that the contribution rates for Mississippi's Public Employees' Retirement System will not increase beyond the rates effective as of January 1, 2023, unless the legislature approves such changes. Additionally, the Board of Trustees must now submit their recommendations for future adjustments to the retirement plan by September 1, 2023. This is significant because it provides financial stability for both employers and employees, ensuring that any rate increases are duly considered and approved rather than occurring automatically.
