What changed in the latest version

The latest version of Bill HB 1602 increases the allocated funding for a specific agency from $323,981 to $327,141 for the fiscal year 2024. It also clarifies that the funds should be specifically used to increase the number of agency employees rather than offer raises or promotions to current staff. This change matters because it aims to ensure that the agency can address staffing shortages while maintaining fair salary standards for its workers, as it emphasizes that no employee should earn less than the minimum salary set by the state.
