Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 2794 now provides that starting January 1, 2024, each Senator, Representative, and the Lieutenant Governor will receive their statutory office expense allowance for every month they serve. Previously, this allowance had different terms, including a provision for it to begin on July 1, 2022. This change is significant because it ensures that lawmakers receive a consistent monthly expense allowance for the duration of their term, which can help them better manage office-related costs while serving the public.
