The recently amended Bill SB 2690 clarifies definitions and provisions regarding how student-athletes in Mississippi can profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights. Key changes include allowing student-athletes to enter NIL agreements before enrolling in college and restricting penalties on schools that comply with these regulations. This matters because it empowers student-athletes to earn money from their personal brands, making college sports more financially equitable for the athletes involved.
