Plain-language change summary

The bill has undergone a significant name change and some structural updates in its provisions. It is now titled the "Mississippi Municipality and County Water Infrastructure Grant Program Act of 2022," which clarifies that it focuses on municipalities and counties rather than including rural water associations. Additionally, the revised version specifies the use of Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds more clearly and adds provisions allowing municipalities to receive a grant even if a customer is a medical marijuana licensee. These changes matter because they streamline the focus of the program and ensure that more communities can access crucial funding for water-related projects, ultimately improving public health and infrastructure.
