What changed in the latest version
34 added · 34 removedPlain-language change summary
The latest version of Bill SB 148 introduces a new system designed for automated enforcement of railroad crossing violations in Illinois. Previously, the bill included a pilot project for this system, which has now been removed. This change matters because it allows local authorities to implement the system more broadly and without the constraints of a pilot testing phase, potentially enhancing safety at railroad crossings. Additionally, the updated bill lowers the maximum fines for violations, making penalties more manageable for offenders.
