Plain-language change summary

The updated HB 177 now allows public agencies to invest in a wider range of financial instruments, specifically adding options to invest in bonds and securities guaranteed by the U.S. government or its agencies. This change replaces previous language that focused more narrowly on specific types of state bonds and mortgage-related investments. The amendment is significant because it gives public agencies greater flexibility in managing public funds, potentially enabling better returns on investments and improving financial stability for public finances.
