The recent changes to Bill SB 3152 add new requirements for counties to monitor and report on economic development project areas. Specifically, they must compile a status report within ten years of establishing such an area, detailing its revenue, expenditures, investment, and any ongoing or planned projects. This is important because it increases transparency and accountability, ensuring that the public can understand how economic development funds are being used and assess the effectiveness of these initiatives. The county must also hold a public hearing about the report, which allows for community input and oversight.
