Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 3726 introduces a new section allowing participants to establish creditable service and earnings for furlough periods between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2011. This change is significant because it enables employees affected by furloughs during that time to count those periods towards their pension benefits, provided they meet certain conditions, such as not receiving pay during the furlough and making the necessary contributions. Overall, this amendment helps support employees by recognizing their contributions even during challenging times.
