Plain-language change summary

The amended version of Bill SB 3738 includes a new provision that specifies how the remaining funds from the Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Fund will be distributed. While the earlier version allocated 75% of the funds for housing counseling outside Chicago and 25% for in-Chicago counseling, the updated bill clarifies that there will be an additional distribution of remaining moneys after those allocations. This matters because it aims to ensure that any leftover funds are also effectively used for foreclosure prevention efforts, potentially enhancing support for communities most in need.
