What changed in the latest version
61 added · 80 removedPlain-language change summary
The amended version of Bill SB 2271 now includes language that explicitly allows the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to consider extraordinary medical expenses when determining a household’s annual income and eligibility for energy assistance. This change is significant because it acknowledges that medical costs, especially for life support equipment, can severely impact a household's financial situation and provides a more equitable approach to determining assistance. The bill aims to ensure that families facing high medical expenses can receive the support they need for energy costs.
