Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 629 introduces a new program aimed at certifying "shovel-ready" sites for workforce housing development in Wisconsin. Key changes include clarifying the criteria for certification, such as specifying that developments must include at least 20 new single-family homes or a multifamily building with at least 16 units. This matters because having certified shovel-ready sites can accelerate housing development and help address the housing shortage in the state, making it easier for families to find homes and for communities to grow.
