Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 535 has been amended to allow the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and certain local agents to shoot beavers and muskrats within 50 feet of a roadway if those animals are causing damage to that highway. Previously, discharging a firearm in that area was generally prohibited, but this exception aims to reduce potential hazards posed by these animals to road infrastructure. This change is significant because it provides a more effective way to address wildlife-related highway damage while ensuring public safety.
