Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Senate Bill 463 changes the enforcement timeline for labeling certain food products as dairy. Instead of an immediate prohibition, it states that these rules will take effect six months after a notice is published, allowing time for compliance. This matters because it provides businesses a grace period to adjust their labeling practices, which could reduce confusion and help them avoid penalties during the transition. Additionally, the legislation outlines a collaborative aspect, requiring that similar laws be enacted in at least ten other states for the Wisconsin rules to be finalized, adding an element of regional consistency.
