Plain-language change summary

The amendments to Bill SB 1265 have clarified and expanded how Virginians who are either missing or killed in action will be honored at the Virginia War Memorial. Notably, in addition to those already recognized, the new version includes provisions for honoring individuals who served honorably but don't specifically meet previous criteria. This change matters because it ensures that more Virginians who have served in the military will receive recognition for their commitment and sacrifice.
