Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Assembly Bill 834 changes the public notice requirement for when an incumbent does not file for reelection. Previously, the bill allowed for notices to be posted in three different locations if there was no internet site available. Now, it specifies that the relevant information must be posted on the internet, and if time allows, it should also be published in a local newspaper. This change is significant because it increases transparency about local elections and helps ensure that the public is better informed about incumbents who choose not to run for reelection.
