Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill HB 2182 clarifies the procedures for public institutions of higher education to sell surplus real property and retain proceeds from those sales. It specifies that if an institution acquired property using both general and nongeneral funds, it will keep half of the sale proceeds while the other half goes to a conservation fund. These changes make the process more transparent and ensure that universities can benefit financially from property sales, which could help support their operations and initiatives. This adjustment is significant for promoting economic development and responsible management of state resources.
