Summary

Establishes limits on the ability of a health carrier or third-party administrator to sell or otherwise grant access, as provided in a dentist's or oral surgeon's provider contract, to a third-party carrier. The measure provides that such access may be granted only if it is expressly permitted by the provider contract and notice is given to the affected participating providers. The contracting entity or carrier is required to inform participating providers, upon request, which network plans have been granted access to the contract by the contracting entity.

Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 1682 now includes specific requirements for third-party dental service carriers to notify providers when they are granted access under a provider contract. This means that participating providers will receive clearer communication, either by mail or electronic means, about which carriers will be using their services. This change is important because it helps ensure transparency and better access to information for dental providers, which can ultimately lead to improved patient care. Additionally, the bill clarifies that certain regulations do not apply to dental services contracts, streamlining the process for these providers.
