Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill HB 4497 changes its title and adds a provision that requires all West Virginia schools to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) and a written emergency action plan during athletic events and practices. It will also ensure that school sports staff receive training on how to use the AED. This change is important because it aims to improve student safety by ensuring that lifesaving equipment and knowledge are readily available during sports activities. Additionally, it includes a provision to protect individuals or organizations from legal liability when making good faith efforts to comply with these requirements.
