The recent amendment to Bill SB 1240 retains a focus on individual health insurance coverage and short-term, limited-duration policies while clarifying the limitations of such plans. It emphasizes that these policies may not comply with certain federal health requirements, especially those of the Affordable Care Act, and highlights the importance for consumers to carefully review their coverage for exclusions and limitations regarding essential health services. These changes matter because they aim to ensure that individuals are more informed about what short-term insurance options entail, helping them make better decisions about their health coverage.
