Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Assembly Bill 644 changes the funding structure for a school-based mental health consultation pilot program. Initially, the bill proposed $350,000, but it has been reduced to $175,000 for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 fiscal years. This reduction in funding could impact the resources available for supporting mental health services in schools, which is crucial for assisting students with mental health needs. In summary, while the pilot program will still move forward, the decreased funding may limit its effectiveness and reach.
