The updated version of SB 661 now requires county boards of education to provide public notice of public hearings on the school calendar by posting prominently on their websites, in addition to the previous requirement to publish in local newspapers. Additionally, the amendments clarify that instructional days can include alternative methods of learning during closures due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, allowing up to five such days. These changes help ensure better communication with the public about school calendar discussions and provide flexibility for continued learning during unexpected disruptions.
