Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill SB 119 significantly changes the process for candidates to announce their candidacy for elections. It now requires all candidates—regardless of the office they are seeking—to file a certificate of announcement, specifying whether they are running for state-level positions, county-level offices, or municipal positions. This is important because it creates a standardized way for candidates to officially declare their intentions, which can help streamline the election process and ensure that all potential candidates are clear about the requirements based on the level of their candidacy.
