Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 2338 adds clarity and expands coverage for mental health and substance use disorders for health plans starting January 1, 2021. It explicitly includes services for substance use disorders, ensuring they are treated on par with other mental health conditions, and mandates that these treatments are considered medically necessary under the same criteria as other medical services. This change is significant because it aims to reduce discrimination in health care coverage, promoting better access to essential mental health and substance use treatments for individuals.
