Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Assembly Bill 8 introduces an important change: pregnant women are now exempt from having to meet requirements related to paternity determinations and child support as a condition for receiving benefits. Additionally, the bill clarifies that a dependent child can still receive Medical Assistance even if their caregiver is not eligible due to non-compliance with these support requirements. This matters because it helps ensure that vulnerable families, particularly those involving pregnant women and dependent children, maintain access to essential health programs regardless of their circumstances.
