Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 225 removes a clause stating that the bill will only take effect if funding is included in the state budget passed in 2018. This change means that the pilot program aimed at treating uninsured or underinsured individuals with opioid addiction may now be initiated more flexibly, without waiting for specific appropriations. This matters because it could potentially accelerate the implementation of crucial support services for those struggling with opioid issues, addressing an ongoing public health crisis more promptly.
