Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 626 now clarifies the requirements for obtaining life insurance policies on minors. Specifically, it states that insurers must obtain written consent from both birth or adoptive parents for a policy to be issued, unless one parent is not available due to unknown whereabouts, legal separation, or termination of rights. Additionally, the bill allows for written consent to be provided electronically if the parties agree to do business online. These changes are important because they aim to protect minors and ensure that their guardians are informed and consenting to any life insurance policies taken out on their behalf.
