Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 36 has been updated to clarify that retirees from certain defined benefit pension plans can adjust their gross income for tax purposes if their pension plan has been terminated and their benefits reduced. Specifically, it reinstates the ability for these retirees to subtract the difference between what their pension should have provided and what they actually receive. This change is significant as it aims to provide financial relief to retirees who were negatively affected by the termination of their pension plans, easing their tax burden.
