The bill requires fire departments to maintain a copy of an approved application for a special license plate for professional or volunteer fire fighters and members of volunteer fire department auxiliaries and to notify the Commissioner within 30 days of separation of any professional fire fighter, volunteer fire fighter, or member of a volunteer fire department auxiliary from such fire department.

Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 947 clarifies the application process for special license plates issued to volunteer emergency medical services agencies and their auxiliaries. It now specifies that only one application is needed from each agency, and it mandates that agencies must inform the Commissioner within 30 days if a member separates from the organization. This change simplifies the application process and ensures more accurate tracking of who holds these special plates, which is important for managing both the plates and the associated benefits for emergency services.
