Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill SB 30 change the start date for eliminating the tax on annuity considerations collected by life insurers from January 1, 2019, to January 1, 2020. This shift means that life insurers in West Virginia will not have to pay this tax for the year 2020 and beyond. This change is significant as it provides immediate financial relief to insurers, encouraging them to operate in the state and potentially offering more competitive products to consumers. Additionally, it streamlines reporting requirements by simplifying the tax return process for insurers.
