Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 485 maintains that a specific property in Chesapeake, owned by the Norfolk Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, is exempt from taxation under the Constitution of Virginia. The significant change is that the revised bill emphasizes the property’s exemption status, affirming it based on historical provisions from the 1902 Constitution. This matters because it clarifies the tax status of the property, ensuring the organization can continue its operations without the financial burden of local taxes.
