The updated version of SB 450 expands the vehicle registration fee exemption to include not just recipients of the distinguished Purple Heart medal, but also those awarded the Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Force Cross, Bronze Star, Silver Star, or Air Medal. Additionally, it specifies that veterans with a 100% service-connected disability, who can have one vehicle exempt if it is not used for commercial purposes, are also included. This change matters because it broadens the benefits available to more veterans and recognizes a greater range of sacrifices made by military personnel.
