The key change in SB 977 involves the clarification of what constitutes "abuse" in the context of care for individuals. The amendment adds additional details to ensure that any actions not complying with legal and professional standards are explicitly recognized as abuse. This matters because it strengthens protections for vulnerable individuals by clearly defining unacceptable behaviors and sets higher standards for care, helping to prevent mistreatment.
