Plain-language change summary

The latest version of House Bill 2896 introduces a significant increase in funding for transportation projects. It raises the amount transferred from the multimodal transportation account to the rural mobility and regional mobility grant programs, which will provide more financial support for improving public transportation in rural areas and enhancing general regional mobility. Additionally, new grant accounts for bicycle and pedestrian projects have been established, which emphasizes the importance of these modes of transport in Washington. This change matters because it reflects a commitment to improving transportation diversity, safety, and accessibility across the state.
