Plain-language change summary

The revised bill, SB 1464, includes changes to how firearm rights can be restored for convicted felons in Virginia. Notably, the amendment clarifies the process for courts to consider petitions for restoration, specifically emphasizing that a person previously convicted of a violent felony must demonstrate they are not a danger to public safety to have their rights restored. These changes aim to balance public safety concerns with the reintegration of felons into society.
