The amendments to SB 322 update the language to streamline and modernize how the commissioner of the department can organize their team. Notably, it replaces a long list of specific job titles (like botanists and veterinarians) with broader categories like "legal, business, science professionals," making the hiring process more flexible. Additionally, it clarifies the commissioner's responsibilities regarding financial reporting to the State Auditor and Treasurer, helping to ensure accurate tracking of state funds. These changes are important as they allow for more efficient operations and better management of public resources.
