Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Bill SB 595, known as the Protect Our Right to Unite Act, has added specific provisions that clarify how donor information from individuals supporting non-profit organizations will be treated. Most notably, it now explicitly states that public agencies cannot require this information, and if they do obtain it, they cannot disclose it unless certain conditions are met. This change is important as it strengthens privacy protections for donors, ensuring they can support causes they believe in without the fear of public exposure or potential repercussions.
