Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill HB 4002 has made some changes regarding how delegates in West Virginia's Legislature will be elected after redistricting based on the 2020 Census. The bill now states that the House of Delegates will permanently consist of one hundred single-member districts, ensuring that each delegate represents only one district moving forward. This shift is important because it aims to improve representation by making it easier for delegates to connect with their constituents and maintain accountability. However, the detailed reasons for supporting single-member districts, like responsiveness and campaign finance reform, have been removed from the bill.
