The amendment to Bill SB 6443 introduces a new section allowing qualifying state agencies to participate in local government joint self-insurance programs specifically for obtaining liability insurance coverage. Previously, these agencies could not engage in such programs for either property or liability insurance. This change is important because it broadens the insurance options available for smaller state agencies, potentially improving their risk management and financial stability by enabling shared resources and costs.
