Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill SB 285 mainly clarify and expand provisions regarding the establishment and governance of regional recreation authorities. The changes introduce specific guidelines for creating these authorities across several counties, detail the powers and responsibilities of their governing boards, and modify how subsistence payments to natural resource police officers are managed. These updates are important because they aim to improve recreational management and ensure that law enforcement related to natural resources is well-supported and equipped to handle their duties effectively.
