Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 30 clarifies that dogs used on a leash to track mortally wounded deer or bear are allowed and specifies that these dogs will not be confiscated by natural resources police officers if they are just tracking animals that have already been wounded. Additionally, the amendment removes the provision that officers can kill dogs that are chasing deer, improving protections for these tracking dogs. This change matters because it supports ethical hunting practices and ensures that trained tracking dogs can be used effectively without the fear of being taken away or harmed.
