The changes to Bill HB 4186 clarify that guaranteed asset protection (GAP) waivers are not classified as insurance, which means those involved in offering them won't need to meet traditional insurance licensing requirements. The bill also specifies certain terms and requirements for offering GAP waivers, including options for cancellation and required disclosures. This matters because it simplifies the regulatory process for businesses offering these waivers, potentially encouraging more companies to provide them, which could benefit consumers looking for financial protections.
