Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 616 allows the Commissioner of Highways to issue special permits that let certain six-axle wood-bearing vehicles exceed the usual weight limits when crossing highways. This change replaces the previous proposal, which aimed to set a maximum gross weight limit for these vehicles. This amendment matters because it offers more flexibility for transporting heavy loads, which could benefit the timber industry while ensuring the state can manage road safety and maintenance costs associated with heavier vehicles.
