The amendment to SB 6475 adds a new section regarding interest and penalties for property taxes imposed by regional transit authorities for delinquencies collected before June 30, 2018. Specifically, the county treasurer must waive these charges if the property is exempted from the tax under this new provision. This change is important because it offers relief to property owners who may have faced financial difficulties, encouraging compliance and easing the burden of past tax obligations.
